              Over the decades, the Board· of Governors has struck many committees. Some have had a limited purpose, such as the Ad Hoc Committee on Campus Security and the Committee Appointed to Report on the Stevenson Scholarships. Others are standing committees that have existed for years, such as the Nominations Committee and the Property, Grounds, and Safety Committee.

              Series consists of records of committees established by the Board through the decades. Many committees were short-lived, established for a particular purpose. There may not be records from all committees that have existed.

              The series consists of reports and minutes of committees formed for oversight of the Library, as well as those to which the Librarian has belonged. Reports relating to committees that do not pertain directly to the operation of the Library or of which the Librarian is not an ex officio member are in the personnel file associated with the Library employee who belonged to that committee. The series spans two centuries through which committees have had various roles relating to the Library.

              Series includes minutes and reports of the Administrative Council, Administrative Management Committee, Aesthetics Committee, Budget Committee, Library Building Committee, Library Committee, and Appointments Committee. These committees either directly relate to the administration of the Library or the Librarian has been an ex officio member of them.

              Series contains early registers of books borrowed from the Library; circulation reports from the head of circulation to the Librarian, detailing circulation statistics such as patron usage, fees incurred, and loans. There are files pertaining to the implementation of the Novanet system, including correspondence between King's and other Nova Scotia libraries.

              Chief Justice Harris Fund

              The Chief Justice Harris Estate (also known as the Hon. R. E. Harris Trust until February, 1934) was bequeathed to King's in July, 1931. It was held by the Eastern Trust Company in the name of the Governors. The money was given in trust for the Divinity School. According to a minute from 1937, the proceeds from the Trust was kept in the General Fund at this time.

              Charles Bruce

              Series includes correspondence between Charles Bruce and Andrew Merkel, beginning with Bruce's freshman year at Mount Allison University when Merkel encouraged him to write poetry, and continuing through to the end of World War II, during which Bruce was a war correspondent. Also includes some of Bruce's early work with the Canadian Press.

              According to the Board of Governors Minute Book 13, p.275, Oct. 5, 1950, the Chancellor's Scholarship Fund came to be in the following manner: "The Chancellor, the Hon. Ray Lawson, desired to establish 10 scholarships at $400.00 each, per annum, tenable for three or four years, subject (in part) to the following conditions: - known as 'Chancellor's Scholarships' 1. Open to the boys of the Maritimes intending to enter business, commerce or industry after graduation. 2. Tenable three or four years, depending on entrance from Grade xi or Grade xii. 3. $400.00 for three or four years,. keeping at least a standard of 65%. 4. Must be in Residence." According to a minute from 1949, the Chancellor's Scholarships were included in, or subsumed under, the Scholarship & Prize Fund.
