Series consists of records related to running the KSU and its office: common functions such as office space, equipment and suppliers, human resources, and general administrative matters; housekeeping or support tasks that keep the office running and support its main programs and services. Included are records pertaining to entertainment suppliers, film licences, band contracts, stationery, services, etc. Those files contain invoices, financial records, promotional materials and correspondence. Suppliers and services records are arranged alphabetically by company name.

The series comprises records relating to the administration of the athletics program at the University of King's College.

Series contains documents pertaining to administration and daily running of the Library. Included are photocopy and film licensing agreements; statistical surveys; agreements with Dalhousie; job descriptions of each Library staff position, payroll documentation from 1989-2005, complaint/suggestion forms from 1991-2000. The series also includes personnel files for staff members, containing job offers, salary details, and some correspondence for the staff and student assistants who worked in the library between the years of 1980 and 2004. Series includes schedules and staffing studies.

The student records series is the largest series of records in the Archives. The series consists of the individual academic records of students who matriculated at the University of King's College between 1886 and 2009. The records before 1922 relate to the University's campus in Windsor, Nova Scotia, while records after that date were created at the University's Halifax location .

The student records were generated by the Registrar's Office staff, who create a file folder for each student who applies to King's. If the student subsequently enrolls, the file is maintained through the student's academic career at the University, recording the student's academic activities and progress. Correspondence from a prospective student who later registered enrolled is filed in that person's student record in this series, not in the Registrar's Office correspondence series. If the student is not accepted or does not enroll, the file is kept for one year in case the student reapplies.

During the processing of the student records, attempts were made to resolve ambiguities in student names and dates. A few of the student records show no evidence that the student ever completed enrolment or took a class at King's, or else the student enrolled and started classes a year or more later. In those cases, the record is filed with the year the student started taking classes, if that can be determined. If it cannot, then the record is filed according to the year the identification number was issued.

There are many gaps in the student records holdings in the Archives. The first student record is from 1886, and for the next two decades, there are no more than three records per year. At times, the policy was to destroy student records after the student left King's; for several years in the 1980s, the only remaining record of a student is a Kardex card (13 cm x 20 cm), with courses typed on it, grades, awards and degrees noted, and usually a small photograph of the student stapled on the lower right corner of the card.

Fonds contains records related to the founding and ongoing operations of the University Library, including correspondence; memoranda; meeting minutes, agendas; policies, regulations; financial records, reports; and proposals for a new Library building. Consists of 13 series: library policies, librarians' report, financial records, administrative records, publications, circulation records, committee records, correspondence, special collections reports, displays, reference statistics, library premises, and publications.

The records in the fonds were created, received or used by the School of Journalism staff and administrators in the course of their work. The School transferred most of the records arranged and described in this project to the Archives in 2010, at the time Kelly Toughill became Director in 2010.

The primary activity of the School of Journalism is to provide education to aspiring and seasoned journalists. By training students in the art, craft and profession of informing the public about matters of public interest, the program equips its students with the abilities to work as reporters and editors in the Canadian news media (from paper to broadcast to online), and provides excellent training for careers where being able to write and speak well, interview people, research topics and puzzle things out are assets.

The records are predominantly textual, including student records, correspondence, reports and promotional materials. Some photographs are included in student records (most appearing between 1987-1991). Some audio/video discs and videocassettes that were submitted as part of some students' portfolios in their admission applications, are in the fonds. In recent years, records have arrived in digital format, e.g., photographs on CDs and magazines created in the Magazine Workshop .
