Series contains letters between Andrew Merkel and Malcolm MacLeod from the beginning of his career at the Canadian Press, some telegrams and news article drafts.

Series includes correspondence between Charles Bruce and Andrew Merkel, beginning with Bruce's freshman year at Mount Allison University when Merkel encouraged him to write poetry, and continuing through to the end of World War II, during which Bruce was a war correspondent. Also includes some of Bruce's early work with the Canadian Press.
