Sub-series contains yearly reports of the Director of the School of Journalism presented to the Board of Governors and printed in the annual President's Report. Each report details the preceding academic year's operations, finances, staffing changes and other significant changes and plans for the future.

Sub-series contains subject files kept by School of Journalism on its various spaces and equipment. Files contain primarily invoices, owner's manuals, and correspondence.

Sub-series contains subject files on financial expenditures by the School of Journalism. The majority of the documents are invoices and purchase orders for classes, faculty, equipment, and administrative needs. Sub-series contains more general documents, such as budget reports, but not in any comprehensive manner.

This series contains reports surrounding the creation and collapse of the Atlantic School of Journalism and Communication. It also contains documents outlining the establishment of the School of Journalism in 1978 as a University of King's College program. There are also feasibility reports and external reviews of the 1978 School.

Henry Drake Petersen was born in Amityville, Long Island, New York, on August 31, 1946. He died in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on October 17, 2012. He never married or had children.

Petersen was educated in the Amityville public school system, graduating from Amityville Memorial High School in 1964. He then enrolled in Long Island University's Richard L. Conolly College in Brooklyn, Long Island, New York, earning his B.A. with honours in history in October 1968.

While at Long Island University, Petersen was on the Dean's List and a member of Phi Alpha Theta national history honour society. He had a tuition scholarship and a New York State Regents scholarship. He worked as a residence hall counselor and university tutor. His extracurricular activities included All-University Chorus, which sang at the New York World's Fair in-fall 1964; L.I.U. Theatre, where he was stage manager and costume designer; Student Orientation Committee; Forum Linguae; International Student Association; Inter-Faith Council; and the Fellowship of St. Alban and St. Sergius.

In 1969, at the height of the Vietnam War, Petersen, age 23, left the United States and went to Nova Scotia, Canada, where he had family connections through his mother, whose sister, Alida Wicks, had moved from New York to Cape Breton with her husband in 1964.

Not long after coming to Halifax, a friend invited him to dinner at King's College, which so impressed Petersen that he applied for a donship. From September 1970 to September 1971, he was Don of Middle Bay at the University of King's College, and from September 1971 to June 1972, he was Don of North Pole Bay. While serving as Don, he participated in student groups, including the Quintilian Debating Society, the Haliburton Literary Society, and the King's Dramatic and Choral Society.

Sub-series contains Journalism School policies and correspondence regarding internships. There are reports from the 200+ employers who have provided internships for Journalism School students, including over 50 CBC internships. Sub-series includes documents from both employers and student interns: the internship report, internship questionnaire, correspondence with intern, correspondence with employer, internal memos regarding policies relating to internships, fax cover sheets and envelopes between school of journalism and employers. There are also a few documents relating to postgraduate survey offerings from publications around the country.

Sub-series contains documents relating to the establishment of the Maclean-Hunter Chair, a professorship subsidized by Maclean Hunter through a one-time endowment of $500,000 each to six universities across the country, and with grants matching the yearly yield. Sub-series includes documentation of Maclean-Hunter Chair and hiring of Visiting Professor, as well as correspondence and other records. Subseries contains only records related to the Maclean-Hunter Chair; records relating to events sponsored by Maclean-Hunter, such as Maclean-Hunter symposia, are in UKC.JOUR.3.4.MAC1 and UKC.JOUR.2.3.GEN.

Series contains files relating directly to the day-to-day operations of the School of Journalism's office, its faculty, its classes, and events. Sub-series contains Directors' Reports, correspondence, committee records, supporting documents, and subject files.

The records in the fonds were created, collected, or used by Rev. Dr. Robert Crouse.

The majority of these records pertain to Crouse’s life as a theologian and as an educator. The records cover Crouse’s lectures (with particular interest in Dante and Augustine), syllabi and course outlines, sermons, research, parochial records, university communications (Dalhousie and King’s), committee minutes (Dalhousie and King’s), music, personal and work correspondence, photographs, books, floppy discs, cassettes, and memorabilia. These records reflect Crouse’s roots at King’s, as well as his experiences in other countries, namely the United States and Italy.

Sub-series contains reports presented to the Board of Governors on the topic of a school of journalism. It begins with the final condemning budget of the Atlantic School of Journalism and Communications, and ends with the final report confirming course offerings.
